These are my shots for out portrait shooting assignment. There were 9 of us in the workshop and we were grouped into 3 = 1 group per portrait concept. Our assignment was to take a portrait of the model as a beauty queen . My groupmates and I formulated stories so that we can justify the lighting we want for our beauty queen. Here were my initial ideas plus the pegs, which I emailed to my groupmates: 1. Smallest Beauty Queen to Win a Pageant. I know i know, matangkad yung model. haha - pero pwede siguro ma-achieve ito pag yung angle ng camera ay medyo nasa taas looking down.  Tapos if meron siyang mahabang dress, hindi natin siya pagsusuotin ng heels. hayaan lang yung dress magspread sa baba na parang oversized or something. 2. Wasted o adik na beauty queen. Nuff said. haha 3. Depressed beauty queen. Depressed siya because of failure. Mataas kasi ang expectations sakanya na makuha nya ang Ms Universe crown pero nabigo siya. 4. Sleeping Beauty queen. Eto...

I went to a Portrait Lighting workshop by my old boss and really enjoyed the experience. Unlike the one I attended years back, this workshop had more heart and gave us two of the most important things we needed to know - the business and creative side of photography. I worked for Heidi for about 2 years when she ventured into SEO and this was during bad economic times. We mass produced articles stuffed with keywords and dealed with clients who knew better than pay the company on time. Since she is a photographer by profession and a manager at her family's business, she seldom stayed in the office for long hours. But when she had photo shoots, she would invite me to tag along and I would take in all the things I could learn from her. She also gave me some event coverage gigs, from which I earned a bit more to save up for a DSLR, even though the pay was kind of "sulit" -- P 2,500 to P 3,000 for photography PLUS a press release! Black Ink Communications did not fare well...

Last week, I watched the first season of 2 Broke Girls non-stop and as I saw more episodes, the more I loved their kind of humor - scant yet reality-bashing and witty. A coffee shop may be a common setting for a sitcom but adding two girls whose long-term goal is to earn thousands of dollars to build a cupcake business is a creamy icing on top of the cupcake. The last frame of each episode shows how much the two girls have added to or taken from their savings. I just watched a Filipino sitcom a while ago called " Tweets for My Sweet " and what do you know? It almost has the same characters as the foreign series!  In 2 Broke Girls , one of the 2 characters was once rich but became broke when her father was jailed for practicing a Ponzi scheme in his business. The formula: RICHES to RAGS. The other waitress on the other hand was broke from the start. It was revealed however that she went to college as an Art student but could not afford to pay off her student loan...

Saving your money in the bank is good. The thing here however is that it has the possibility of being spent. If it gets spent, then you have to start over again!
